The material of this kilim was sourced from plants. First of all, people used to dry hemp plants. Then, they irrigated the plant a bit and leaved it to have moisture. Afterthat, the plants turned into yarn. Finally, the artisans used flat weave technique to create this art by hand with hemp yarn. The color of hemp kilims are originally in yellow. After they got washed, they turned out to be in white due to the nature of the hemp plant. We get our hemps washed professionally, but we do not change its nature. There are still some yellow spots on hemp kilims which are not stains. It is all the nature of hemp plants. There is an advantage I would like to mention about hemp kilim rugs.
