LARIMAR APPLIQUED OLD SCHOOL RING SIZE 10 1/2 - ETSY ESPAÑA EN ESPAÑA

Larimar seems to really work well with the traditional designs of the Old School Southwest jewelry. This larimar ring is in a Navajo handmade appliquéd ring. Appliqué is a process where silver is deep stamped, then the silver stamp is carefully cut out in the shape of the stamp. The individual pieces are then fitted and soldered as part of the design of a Southwest style ring. This particular ring has four appliqués surrounding the lovely larimar freeform cabochon. This larimar ring measures 1 1/8 inches long and 1 1/8 inches wide so it is large and in charge. A statement ring and not for the faint of heart. If you've ever been lucky enough to vacation in the Caribbean you know the color of the ocean and the sky. Sometimes you cannot tell where one ends and the other begins. Little fleecy clouds skitter against a blue so lovely it hurts. That's the color of larimar. Many people in the Dominican Republic, where larimar is found, believe the heavens cracked open one day and little pieces of the sky fell to earth and became larimar. It may be a fable, but when you look at the fabulous color of larimar, it becomes easier to believe it may be true. Found inside thermal vents along the shore (think Old Faithful in Yellowstone Park) the real story of larimar is almost as fanciful. This stone is a product of eons of heat, salt, ocean and steam. Nowhere in the world is larimar found that is as beautiful as that which comes from the Dominican Republic.
