It would make a lovely feature toy for a bedroom shelf. It is lightweight and portable for travel days but has a sturdy flat base so the house is completely free standing. This homemade gift works well in felt or washed linen. The detailing on the front of the house and garden is a perfect excuse to let your creative ideas flow and use up leftover fabrics in the process or personalise for an extra touch. The pattern which you print at home, a full color step by step instruction guide tutorial and a bonus reference guide. All instructions are in English with metric and imperial measurements. This is a beginner friendly project using basic stitches throughout and can be stitched by machine or hand. The decorations and last of the assembly will need to be added by hand but it is straight forward and fully illustrated. With supervision I have used this pattern with older children to give them confidence as they start out sewing. Materials needed: Materials for the house building sides, base, outer panels Recommended fabric: felt, strong cotton, linen Fabric for the outside of the house: 30 x 90 cm / 12 x 36 in Fabric for the inside of the house 30 x 75 cm / 12 x 30 in Green fabric for the garden grass: 28 x 28 cm/ 11 x 11 in Felt fabric for the roof: 26 x 24 cm / 10 x 9.5 in Wadding or quilt batting for the house lining: 28 x 90 cm / 11 x 36 in (you can use thick cardboard if needed if you don’t have wadding) For the decorations you will need some scraps of felt and you can add buttons and ribbons if you like.
