Uptempo numbers with pop hooks dominate the set, the 12 songs zip by in an efficient 38 minutes, and instead of  Reed 's trademark meditations on the dark side of life, the lyrics are (for the most part) lean bursts of verse and chorus, in which the artist sings the praises of good times in general and rock & roll in particular (then again, on "I Believe in Love,"  Reed  pledges his allegiance to both "good time music" and "the iron cross," a bit of perversity to remind us whose album this is). But if  Rock and Roll Heart  sounds like " Lou Reed  Lite," there are more than a few flashes of  Reed 's inarguable talent. His band is in fine form (especially  Marty Fogel  on sax and  Michael Fonfara  on keyboards). "Banging on My Drum" is a crunchy rocker that recalls his work with  the Velvet Underground; "A Sheltered Life" is an amusing bit of  VU  archeology (the Velvets demoed the song, but this marked its first appearance on record); and the closer, "Temporary Thing," is a bitter, haunting narrative that foreshadows  Reed 's next album, the harrowing masterpiece  Street Hassle.

El primer éxito de The Standells'fue por el single, " Dirty Water," el cual llego hasta el puesto 11 de los Billboard chart el 11 de Junio de 1966. The Standells hicieron algunas apariciones en televisión durante los años 1964-1966, en la telecomedia producida por la cadena CBS The Munsters en el episodio "Far Out Munster", la banda en esa ocasión se integro al programa e interpretaron las canciones " Come On and Ringo " y " I Want to Hold Your Hand " de The Beatles

After hooking up with friend/bassist  Gary Fletcher, the seeds for  the Blues Band  were sown, resulting in countless albums (including such titles as 1980's Official Bootleg Album and  Ready, 1981's  Itchy Feet, 1982's  Brand Loyalty  which featured new member ex-Family drummer Rob Townsend, 1983's  Bye Bye Blues, 1986's These Kind of Blues, 1989's  Back for More, 1991's Fat City, 1993's  Homage, and 1995's  Wire Less, among others). In addition,  Kelly  formed  the Dave Kelly Band in the mid-'80s (issuing four albums), penned music for commercials and such projects as BBC TV's King of the Ghetto and The Comic Strip Presents Strike!, has been voted Best Acoustic Artist by BBC polls throughout the '90s, and is an honorary patron of the London Guitar College with  Hank Marvin.
