Fue una derivación del New Wave al New Romantic. La música es más accesible pero sin perder fuerza ni originalidad. " Promised You A Miracle " is a 1982 song by Simple Minds and was released as the first single from their fifth studio album New Gold Dream (81–82–83–84). It is most notable for being the band's first successful chart hit in the UK, reaching #13 in the UK Singles Chart and charting for 11 weeks.[Their previous nine UK singles yielded no Top 40 hits in that country. It was the only song on the album that included Kenny Hyslop as the studio session drummer. Mike Ogletree and Mel Gaynor contributed for the other eight tracks. The song triggered a prolonged period of commercial success for the band, during which they yielded 21 original UK hit singles in a row, up to and including 1998's "Glitterball" from the album Neapolis. Elsewhere on the record,  Garfunkel  took a more spirited approach, notably on a version of  Van Morrison 's "I Shall Sing" that was reminiscent of  Simon & Garfunkel 's "Cecilia" and made the Top 40. Certainly, there was enough firepower on the record, which featured guitarists  Jerry Garcia  and  J.J. Cale. But much of it was filled with stately, orchestra-laden ballads, sung by  Garfunkel  in his naïve, breathy tenor. If  Simon & Garfunkel  had been the thinking man's  Everly Brothers,  Garfunkel  alone turned out to be the thinking man's  Johnny Mathis.

OSCAR PETERSON: TRAVELLIN' ON [UK 1969] LP OSCAR PETERSON: TRAVELLIN' ON [UK 1969] LP (MPS - Polydor)  1969  made in UK cat. num.  583 772 #jazz   A1 Travellin' On 2:25 A2 Emily 10:08 A3 Quiet Nights 7:20 B1 Sax No End 5:52 B2 When Lights Are Low 10:49   This is yet another memorable concert by  the Oscar Peterson Trio  recorded in  Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer 's excellent studio. With bassist  Sam Jones  and drummer  Bobby Durham,  Peterson  tears into the old gospel favorite "Travelin' On" with a passion second to none. Following it is a beautiful treatment of  Johnny Mandel 's timeless ballad "Emily," which runs for over ten minutes but never loses its impact.  Durham  sets the pace with his soft percussion to set up  Antonio Carlos Jobim 's "Corcovado" (later known as "Quiet Nights"), though  Peterson  devours the song whole with a breathtaking display of his formidable technique.  Francy Boland 's "Sax No End" was a relatively new composition, having been recorded for the first time just the previous year by the Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland Big Band. But one can almost hear a larger ensemble by listening to  Peterson 's virtuoso interpretation in an uptempo setting, assisted by  Jones ' agile bass and  Durham 's steady percussion.  Peterson  cools off his audience with an extended exploration of  Benny Carter 's "When Lights Are Low," though his fresh approach makes it seem like a brand new composition. Like other releases in  Oscar Peterson 's Exclusively for My Friends series,  Travelin' On  is warmly recommended.

He also released the solo works  Dream On,  Guardian of the Light, and  Rendezvous  as well as another Clarke/Duke Project album before leaving Epic for Elektra in 1984. There he recorded  Thief in the Night,  George Duke, and  Night After Night.  Duke 's music delighted mainstream audiences and crossed over from pop to adult contemporary to the R&B charts effortlessly.

Though this isn't as comprehensive as Rhino's double-disc set -- which means it doesn't contain the  David Gates  solo cuts that the first one does -- it still provides most casual listeners with all the  Bread  they'd need, in a highly listenable fashion, too.

The multi-artist affair spawned several hits. The first single was Prince's "Thieves in the Temple," a track in which the artist played all the instruments and performed all the vocals. Though some fans may have taken a pass on the movie, they spurred "Thieves in the Temple" to gold status, going to number one R&B and number six pop in the fall of 1990. The Top Ten R&B/pop Graffiti Bridge soundtrack went gold, spawning the single "New Power Generation" and the million-selling Top Five R&B/number 12 pop single "Round and Round" by Tevin Campbell.

Combining their various influences (including R&B, pop, dance, electronica),  Heaven 17  fused these styles together to made an almost perfect sound. A strong melody, stunning vocals from  Glenn Gregory, and tight production equal a fascinating glimpse into the human struggle. Adding a number of session players, including a guitarist,  Heaven 17  was able to expand and build on their solid sound.  Gregory  is also allowed to branch out on this album and write more personal and political statements that were not clearly heard on their first two albums. Fans will not be disappointed, and in fact, this could be the album to win new fans over. "Sunset Now," and "Flamedown," are just a few of the reasons for this ep greatness.

Has keyboards, wah wah guitar, latin trumpet break and cool female chorus too. This should have been included in the reputated Psicotronica compilations, for sure, but it still remains unknown. 'Brasil Coconuts' is more lounge, also 'Tic Tac', dabadabada style this time with lyrics. Portadas con rotos, manchas etc F/P estado muy pobre, sólo listados si son rarezas.
