The multi-artist affair spawned several hits. The first single was Prince's "Thieves in the Temple," a track in which the artist played all the instruments and performed all the vocals. Though some fans may have taken a pass on the movie, they spurred "Thieves in the Temple" to gold status, going to number one R&B and number six pop in the fall of 1990. The Top Ten R&B/pop Graffiti Bridge soundtrack went gold, spawning the single "New Power Generation" and the million-selling Top Five R&B/number 12 pop single "Round and Round" by Tevin Campbell.

Mahler: Symphony No. 5 - Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, Moreno Valiente (CD, Album) (2021) Mahler: Symphony No. 5 - Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, Moreno Valiente (CD, Album) (2021) The recording of such a complex and ambitious work as Gustav Mahler's Fifth Symphony by the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra (OFM in Spanish) is a demonstration of the determination and enthusiasm with which the group is facing his 30th anniversary. Highly artistic work, Mahler's Fifth Symphony is of great extension and expressive intensity; it is full of deep symbolism and evident spirituality. It is a musical and intellectual monument testing the quality of an orchestra and its conductor. It is a challenge that, in a market full of references to the Austrian composer's masterpiece, the OFM faces with all the potential the work demands. In his first four symphonies, Mahler tried to identify with four ideas: the first, the power of will against destiny; the second, hope in the resurrection; in the third a certain 'Nietzschean' pantheism, and the fourth is a musical manifesto about innocence. There is in all of them that kind of youthful lyricism which its first songs have, a style that is nipped in the bud in his Fifth Symphony, completed in 1902 and premiered in Cologne by the Gürzenich Orchestra on 18 October 1904 under the direction of the author. The language he uses in his Fifth Symphony seems to be anticipating the future, in a kind of progressive tonality tending towards a certain harmonic instability and reinforcing the words of the composer himself. A rather routine slab of bluesy, heavy rock, it made the Top 50. Aside from  Bolin 's extended hard rock riffing, it prominently featured the lead vocals of  Candy Givens, who affected a blues-wailing pose along the lines of  Janis Joplin. But she didn't have the full throat or guts to back it up, ending up closer to also-ran female psychedelic singers like  Lydia Pense  (of  Cold Blood).  Zephyr  recorded one more album before  Bolin  left for stints with  James Gang,  Deep Purple, and a solo career; the group carried on throughout the 1970s. The band's debut finds  Bolin  already developed as a skilled player, but his playing, and the largely group-penned material, lack strength or subtlety. The most distinctive trait of the band at this point, in fact, is the somewhat histrionic singing of lead vocalist  Candy Givens.

Though this isn't as comprehensive as Rhino's double-disc set -- which means it doesn't contain the  David Gates  solo cuts that the first one does -- it still provides most casual listeners with all the  Bread  they'd need, in a highly listenable fashion, too.
