Es el mejor estado en el cual podemos encontrar un disco usado. Hablamos de un disco o una tapa sin ningún tipo de uso. Los discos nuevos/sellados o discos nuevos sin ningún tipo de uso, tienen esta etiqueta.   Near Mint (NM): Un disco que puede haber sido usado (aunque no necesariamente), pero no tiene signos evidentes de uso. Puede referirse a un disco que fue reproducido una sola vez o varias, en su totalidad o parcialmente, siempre y cuando no evidencie signos de desgaste. La tapa luce como nueva, sin ningún tipo de marcas, ni stickers, ni escrituras.   Excellent (EX): A partir de este grado, empieza a intervenir la subjetividad de la persona que gradúa y el sistema de reproducción que utiliza. Un disco excelente no debe tener ningún tipo de ruido al ser reproducido. Visualmente puede tener algún desgaste pero mínimo (marcas por sacar/guardar el disco del sobre interno, por ejemplo). Estas marcas no tienen que afectar en ningún modo la correcta reproducción del disco. Las tapas en estado excelente deben conservarse en perfecto estado, aunque pueden tener algún signo de desgaste mínimo.   Very Good Plus (VG+): La mayoría de los discos usados que circulan por el mundo se encuentran en este estado. Las marcas de uso comienzan a ser evidentes a partir de este estado (tanto en los discos como en las tapas). Una tapa VG+ puede tener escrituras mínimas en algún sector. Un disco en estado VG+ presenta marcas de uso, y también puede tener ruidos intermitentes al reproducir, pero estos ruidos deberían reducirse al mínimo. Si los ruidos interfieren con la escucha, el disco no podrá calificarse como VG+.   Very Good (VG): Las marcas presentes en un disco VG+ se acentúan en un disco VG. Las tapas comienzan a mostrar desgaste y pueden presentar escrituras, arreglos con cinta, etc. A partir del estado VG comienza a evidenciarse un círculo alrededor de la tapa (ringwear). Un disco VG presenta ruidos que no son intermitentes sino continuos, que se acentúan en los silencios entre tema y tema, fade in y fade out, o en momentos silenciosos del disco. Good (G): Los discos en estado G tendrán ruido continuo sin saltos. Las tapas se ven deterioradas por el uso y pueden contener cortes, marcas, arreglos, etc. El valor de mercado de un disco G se reduce a un porcentaje bajo, aunque no mínimo. En los discos VG el valor también se reduce considerablemente.   Fair/Poor (F o P): Todos los discos que presenten saltos, dobladuras, roturas que impidan la correcta reproducción califican como F/P. Leaving behind the more traditional trappings of his R&B-inflected debut, he instead looked to the synthesized future, driving his organic bass and guitars into what amounted to a concept album of sorts, fueled by memories of lazy Saturday B-movie afternoons. Bright, punchy pop punctuates this set. From the quirky sci-fi of "Plan-9" and the contemporary urban groove on "State Your Mind," which is one of the album's better tracks,  Rodgers  fills the space with eminently danceable, if somewhat same-y, songs using synthesizer tricks to thrill. "Let's Go out Tonight," meanwhile, proved the album's hot prospect, dipping into the Top 100, giving  Rodgers  his only solo chart hit. Rounding things out are the ballad "Wavelength" and  Rodgers ' immaculate instrumentation -- most notably the guitar and bass, which bound through the funky "Groove Master" with glee. Perhaps a little too light on substance,  B-Movie Matinee  still manages to please. Being  Nile Rodgers  can't be easy, as the mere mention of his name conjures such strong sonic images from his  Chic  canon, and it's hard to ignore those predispositions when listening to his solo material. But that's no detriment to the fine set he's unleashed here.

The first major-label, digitally recorded album,  Bop  is a nice set of moderately known to obscure tunes from the '50s and '60s (along with a  Cooder / Tim Drummond  original) that doesn't always live up to its promise.  Cooder  and his excellent band, which includes the rhythm section of  Tim Drummond  and  Jim Keltner  along with guitarist  David Lindley, understand the material and are more than capable of laying down a decent groove, but something must have gotten lost in translation from what was played to what came across on the recording. There's a thinness to the tracks that undermines the performances, which according to  Cooder  is due to the digital recording. If you check out the live version of  Bop Till You Drop 's opener, "Little Sister," from the No Nukes record (using the same band), you can see what surely could have been. Still,  Bop  is worthwhile given  Cooder 's penchant for choosing great tunes, as well as the tight performances, brilliant guitar work, and a handful of great guest vocalists (including  Chaka Khan). A few of the highlights include his arrangement of the early-'60s  Elvis  hit "Little Sister," the soulful "The Very Thing That Makes You Rich (Makes Me Poor)," an instrumental take on  Ike & Tina Turner 's "I Think It's Gonna Work Out Fine," and "I Can't Win," featuring  Cooder 's longtime cohort  Bobby King  on lead vocal.

Joining  Adderley  for the six tracks here are fellow  Davis  alumni  Philly Joe Jones  on drums and  Bill Evans  on piano. These three are augmented by the wonderful and often-underrated  Blue Mitchell  on trumpet and the equally illustrious  Sam Jones  on bass. Everyone is in top form on a varied set that takes in two  Adderley  originals (the fine ballad "Straight Life" and "A Little Taste"), a classic  Gigi Gryce  number ("Minority"), and  Miles ' oft-covered "Nardis." Filling out the program, we have a rare  Sam Jones -penned cut, "Blue Funk," and a lone standard in the  Rogers & Hammerstein  chestnut from Oklahoma, "People Will Say We're in Love." One of the highlights from  Adderley 's hard bop prime. "Things Are Getting Better" This title provides ample evidence why alto  Cannonball Adderley  is considered one of the masters of his craft. Here he joins forces with  Modern Jazz Quartet  co-founder  Milt Jackson  on vibes to create a variety of sonic atmospheres. They are backed by the all-star ensemble of  Wynton Kelly  on piano,  Percy Heath  on bass, and the one and only  Art Blakey  on drums. The moody "Blues Oriental" opens the set with  Jackson  immediately diving in with his trademark fluid runs and shimmering intonation.  Adderley  counters with a light and lively line that weaves between the rhythm section. The optimistic "Things Are Getting Better" is a good-natured romp as the co-leads trade and cajole each other into some downright rollicking exchanges. This directly contrasts with the sultry "Serves Me Right," which allows the combo members to demonstrate their collective musical malleability. The interaction between  Adderley  and  Jackson  sparkles as they entwine their respective playing with an uncanny singularity of spirit. The cover of  Dizzy Gillespie 's "Groovin' High" contains another spirited performance with some thoroughly engaging improvisation, especially during  Adderley 's voracious solos. "Sidewalks of New York" bops freely as  Jackson  unleashes some sublime licks against a hearty and equally boisterous sax.  Adderley 's "Sounds for Sid" demonstrates his uncanny ability to swing with a strong R&B vibe. With drop-dead timing and profound instrumental chops, this cut is undoubtedly one of the best from  Adderley 's earliest canon. The album concludes with a jumping reading of  Cole Porter 's "Just One of Those Things." While  Wynton Kelly  has been uniformly solid, his interjections stand out here as he bridges and undergirds the two as they banter with flair and aplomb. This set can be recommended without hesitation to all manner of jazz enthusiast, as it quite literally offers something for every taste. [Some reissues include two bonus tracks supplementing the original seven-song running order, alternate takes of "Serves Me Right" and "Sidewalks of New York."]

Given the sadly neglected status of the band's early catalog -- meaning anything that was released prior to 1982's breakthrough  New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)  -- through the early 2000s, it is doubly unfortunate that a compilation like this remained out of print for an extended period of time. And though the studio albums remained in print in the U.K.,  Simple Minds ' early years hardly received the red carpet compilation treatment that their later works did. While nothing here came close to approaching the stadium-pleasing popularity of later smashes like "Don't You (Forget About Me)," "Alive and Kicking," or even "Promised You a Miracle,"  Celebration  might provide a little shock to an initiated someone who snaps up a copy. It's a near-definite that plenty of people who own  New Gold Dream  and/or the  Glittering Prize 81/92 compilation remain oblivious to the fact that  Simple Minds  released five albums that ranged from good to spectacular between 1979 and 1981, before  New Gold Dream  came along with its perfect balance of art and pop to connect with a mass audience. Not only was 1979-1981 a prolific period for the band, but it was a period that witnessed them blossoming from a decent guitar-based post-punk band to a far more rhythmic and experimental entity that gradually shed their influences while ambitiously building on them. And as the few brave souls who have remained devout  Simple Minds  fans from day one might tell you,  Celebration  has stood the test of time better than  Glittering Prize  track-for-track.

The single "Atmosphere" had been originally issued in France as "Licht und Blindheit" with "Dead Souls" on the B-side. Following the death of Ian Curtis, it was reissued as a posthumous B-side of the "She's Lost Control" single in an alternate version from the track that had previously appeared on Unknown Pleasures. The vinyl version omits the single "Komakino" and does not include the complete titles from the extended plays. Later CD pressings issued by London Records contain a previously unreleased mix of "She's Lost Control" that is slightly different from the original single release. More guitar is mixed within the song, the synthesizer melody is shortened and starts at a later point, and the ending of the song is extended by 15 seconds and doesn't fade out. Substance was digitally remastered in 2015 containing the alternate mix of "She's Lost Control" and two additional tracks: "As You Said" (the second b-side of Komakino) and the b-side mix of "Love Will Tear Us Apart".

Naturally, the result is a more coherent sound that may be a little less freewheelingly eclectic, but it is no less brilliant. Recorded simultaneously with  Dave Edmunds '  Repeat When Necessary,  Labour of Lust  benefits from the muscular support of  Rockpile, who make  Lowe 's songs crackle with vitality. Working primarily in the roots rock vein of  Brinsley Schwarz  but energizing his traditionalist tendencies with strong pop melodies, a sense of humor, and an edgy new wave sensibility,  Lowe  comes up with one of his best sets of songs. Not only is his only hit, the propulsively hook-laden "Cruel to Be Kind," here, but so are the rampaging outsider anthem "Born Fighter," the tongue-in-cheek,  Chuck Berry -style "Love So Fine," the wonderful pure pop of "Dose of You," the haunting "Endless Grey Ribbon," the druggy "Big Kick, Plain Scrap!," and the terrific "Cracking Up," as well as his definitive version of  Mickey Jupp 's "Switchboard Susan." It's an exceptional collection of inventive pop songs, delivered with vigor and energy, making it one of the great records of the new wave.

This singer-songwriter was also proficient on guitar and harmonica. Shearston moved with his family to Sydney at the age of 12, after his father’s farm was destroyed by drought. By the time Shearston was 19 he was a professional singer performing traditional Australian music in pubs, clubs and on radio and television. In the late 50s he made his first recording, for the Festival label, and this was followed by a number of albums for CBS Records in the early to mid-60s. Two of these albums were described as ‘among the best records of traditional music ever made in Australia’. In 1965, Shearston received an award for the best composition of the year when ‘Sometime Lovin’’ was covered by a number of artists including Peter Paul And Mary. In the mid-60s, together with Martyn Wyndham-Read, he recorded a live album on the Australian Score record label, although CBS would not let Shearston appear on the album. In addition, he had his own folk music television programme.  Shearston then travelled to the USA in 1968 and lived there for the next four years. During the mid-70s Shearston relocated to Britain, where he recorded two albums for Charisma Records. Shearston’s one major hit in the UK came in 1974, when ‘I Get A Kick Out Of You’ made the Top 10. This single made Shearston the first Australian artist to have a simultaneous hit in Britain and Australia. Despite the long gap between albums he carried on and worked the folk clubs of Europe. Returning to Australia from England in 1988, Shearston was made a Deacon of the Anglican Church in December 1991, and has served in the parishes of Narrandera, Deniliquin, Hay, and Bangalow. In 2001, he released his first new studio album in over a decade.
