The brief "Blues for Mingus," a wry salute from one master bassist to another (Mingus  died about six months before this album's release), is a cool acoustic breather for piano trio, and the eloquent  Stan Getz  can be detected, though nearly buried under the garish vocals and rock-style mix, on "The Streets of Philadelphia." Yet even the talented  Clarke  in full creative flower couldn't quite fill a double set with new material, so he has a tendency to reprise some of his old memorable riffs a lot, and there are several energetic snapshots of his live band in action. In its zeal to get this two-LP set onto one disc, Epic deleted three of the original 15 tracks -- including at least one gem, the sizzling hard rocker "All About" -- and scrambled the order of the remaining tunes. Which is dumb, because the missing tracks only take up a bit less than 12 minutes of playing time, not enough to overload a 65-minute disc. Hunt for the double-LP version if you can still play vinyl.

Pero.....¿Todavía no sabes quien es Roger Sanchez? Uno de los productores cruciales que colaboró con su carisma para que Strictly Rhythm se alzara como primer sello americano de house a principios de los 90. Roger Sánchez ha llegado a convertirse en un prolífico productor, uno de los principales deejays del mundo y el nombre clave dentro de la escena internacional de house. Aunque se concentró más en los álbumes mix que en las producciones de su propio estudio firmadas con su nombre, Sánchez se ganó un gran respeto durante un tiempo tanto entre los clubkids como entre el público más elitista y culto de las pistas de baile. Nacido en Nueva York y de familia dominicana, Sánchez asistió a la Escuela de Arte y Diseño de Manhattan con algunas de las futuras leyendas del hip-hop, incluido Kurtis Mantronik. Desde principios de los 80 se introdujo en toda la escena de la cultura graffiti y "break-dance", y empezó a pinchar a los 13 años. Aunque su propio sello discográfico desapareció en 1995, Sánchez creó otro llamado Narcotic y se asoció con el club británico Hard Times para realizar su primer "larga duración". Con éste álbum remix, llamado Hard Times-The Album, Roger Sánchez se presentó con un nuevo nombre: S-Man. Realizado tan solo con dos platos, una mesa de mezclas y una caja de discos, este trabajo probó su gran valía como DJ además de su calidad y exigencia en estudio. Siguió explotando el filón de los LP remix, firmando volúmenes en dos grandes series (Mixmag Live y United DJ's of America). En 1997 Narcotic Records lanzó Back (bajo el nombre de S-Man), que es el fruto del súper grupo de música "dance" formado por Sánchez, Junior Sánchez y DJ Sneak. Un año más tarde, Sánchez realizó S-Man Classics, una colección de dos discos incluyendo sus mejores remixes y sus mejores producciones propias.
