Marco estilo Montparnasse, madera tallada, 40’s – Francia Exquisito marco de Montparnasse, realizado a mediados del siglo XX. Los marcos de Montparnasse se remontan a principios del siglo XX cuando los pintores más bohemios se asentaron en este barrio de París. Como eran artistas con muy pocos medios, ellos mismos tallaron los marcos en pino modesto y los dejaron sin dorar. Las pátinas son todas diferentes, siendo los marcos tradicionales color crema o gris. La talla en sí es ornamentada y busca rememorar los estilos Luis XIV y Luis XV. Esta manera de hacer se entendió como una prolongación de arte, siendo el marco algo más que sólo un marco, y pronto, se empezaron a dorar. Muchos de los pintores de la Escuela de Montparnasse y la Escuela de París enmarcaron sus pinturas postimpresionistas y cubistas con el marco Montparnasse. El resultado es un marco decorativo y muy especial. Montparnasse frames date back to the early 20th century when the more bohemian painters settled in this Parisian district. As they were artists with very few means, they carved the frames themselves from modest pine and left them ungilded. The patinas are all different, with traditional frames being cream or grey. The carving itself is ornate and seeks to recall the Louis XIV and Louis XV styles. This way of doing things was understood as an extension of art, with the frame being something more than just a frame, and soon, they began to be gilded. Many of the painters of the Montparnasse School and the School of Paris framed their post-impressionist and cubist paintings with the Montparnasse frame.
