Con este nuevo álbum, Jaroussky revive un buen número de magníficas operas arias del compositor y maestro de canto napolitano Nicola Antonio Porpora cuyo estudiante más afamado fue el castrato Farinelli.Como de costumbre, Jaroussky ha realizado un extraordinario trabajo de investigación musical para este álbum, en el que presenta varios estrenos mundiales. Philippe Jaroussky es contratenor francés. Estudió violín, piano, armonía y contrapunto en el conservatorio de Versalles. En 1996, comenzó sus estudios de canto con Nicole Fallien y los continuó en el Departamento de Música Antigua del Conservatorio de París con Michel Laplenie, Kenneth Weiss y Sophie Boulin. Recibió su diploma como violinista de la Facultad de Música Antigua del Conservatorio de París.Philippe Jaroussky actuó por primera vez en 1999 en el Festival de Royaumont. En este mismo año, intervino en el oratorio de Scarlatti Sedecia en los festivales de Royaumont y AMBRONAY con Il Seminario Musicale y Gérard Lesne (CD en Virgin Classics). Con la Grande Ecurie et la chambre du Roy, dirigida por Jean-Claude MALGOIRE, participó en la trilogía de Monteverdi (Orfeo, Il Ritorno di Ulisse y L'Incoronazione di Poppea) y en 2001 cantó el papel de Arbace en Catone in Utica de Antonio Vivaldi, así como el Nisi Dominus del compositor venciano y el Stabat Mater de Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. En 2003, apareció como Nero en el Théâtre des Champs Elysées' en Agrippina Georg Frideric Handel.Philippe Jaroussky colabora frecuencuentemente con Jean Tubéry y el conjunto La Fenice para los que ha grabado La Morte Delusa de Giovanni Battista Bassani y un Concert chez Mazarin (Virgin Classics). Para el conjunto Matheus, dirigido por Jean-Christophe Spinosi, ha grabado La verità in cimento (Opus 111) así como el papel de Ruggiero en el Orlando Furioso en una actuación en el Théâtre des Champs Elysées para el sello Naïve. Esto ha contribuido a su inusual repertorio de reactivación. Canta bien con violines de Vivaldi (y conjuntos). Recibió en 2007 el premio al mejor artista lírico francés.Actualmente, la presentación de una serie de recitales con su propio conjunto, Artaserse, ha interpretado a Telémaco en Ulisse con René Jacobs en la Staatsoper de Berlín y a Eustazio de Rinaldo en la Vlaamse Opera dirigido por Andreas Spering. En 1969, grabó "New Routes", un álbum grabado en los famosos estudios Muscle Shoals.Un disco curioso y raro de encontrar, en el se incluía una buenísima versión de " Mr. Bojangles ", de Jerry Jeff Walker. Grabado entre el 10 de septiembre y el 2 de octubre de 1969, fue una de las primeras grabaciones de aquellos míticos estudios. Y claro lo mejor y lo que mas me entusiasma del asunto es que en el disco Lulu contó con Duane Allman en las guitarras. Mi entusiasmo por encontrarme este disco es evidente, ya que adquiero todo lo que toque de cerca o de lejos a los Allman. El disco contaba con temas como la canción " Oh Me Oh My (I'm a Fool For You Baby) " que obtuvo cierto éxito. Una buena versión de " Feelin' Alright " de Dave Mason. "Dirty Old Man" de Delaney Bramlett, etc... Por lo que se puede apreciar a simple vista; muy buen gusto tenia esta majisima señorita. El disco también contó con Barry Edward Beckett en los teclados, un hombre que que trabajó como músico de sesión con los artistas mas grandes. James Luther "Jim" Dickinson al piano y las guitarras, un hombre que no necesita presentación,simplemente recordar que sus hijos, Luther y Cody han seguido sus pasos con éxito,tanto con North Mississippi All Stars, como como Hill Country Revue y The Black Crowes. Y que el piano en " Wild Horses" de los Stones es el! El gran Cornell Dupree tambien se ocupo de las guitarras, junto a Charlie Figueroa y Eddie Hinton este ultimo guitarra de Aretha Franklin, Solomon Burke, The Staple Singers y Elvis Presley entre muchos. Al bajo David Hood, otro con un curriculum que echa de espalda, y su hijo, Patterson Hood, es uno de Drive-By Truckers. Michael Utley con el organo, un hombre muy apegado a Rita Coolidge y Kris Kristofferson. Como se puede ver Lulu tuvo a la creme de la creme en su disco, y como productores tampoco se quedo corta: Jerry Wexler, Arif Mardin y Tom Dowd. Nada mas y nada menos! Como ven nuestra Lulu,se lo monto divinamente en este disco y un año más tarde, lanzo un álbum similar, "Melody Fair". Ambos se registraron en el sello Atco y son piezas muy buscadas Lulu siempre siguió en el negocio del espectáculo,consiguiendo éxitos nada desdeñables, aunque su estilo siempre ha derivado hacia un pop muy comercial, siempre quedaran estos discos que grabo en los Muscle Shoals.
