Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (Elton y Bernie) armaron este disco conceptual que relata cuestiones personales. Son todas referencias a sus propias vidas, a las de sus amigos y a los dramas y alegrías que los rodeaban. El disco incluye "Someone Saved My Life Tonight", que fuera considerado por el propio Elton John como el mejor tema que jamás hayan escrito junto a Taupin.
