Please note that these Codd sea glass marbles are currently very marked from their 100 year journey in the Sea. There are many C marks, where the marbles have hit rocks during their time in the North Sea. This is a feature which makes your sea glass marble more unique. Purist sea glass marble necklace... beach marble sphere... sea glass set in silver plated bezel setting on silver plated chain in length of your choice. The marble has not been channel drilled, it is set in the silver wrapping without having been altered. Marble is between 16-18mm diameter. Codd marbles are approx 80-100 years old. Every marble is unique and if the Sea has been rough, there are lovely tumble marks on it. Occasionally a marble might have a small piece missing, but they are all frosted. This is a feature and makes your marble that bit more special. SIZE Marble is approx 16-18mm diameter Optional 18" sterling silver chain or complimentary silver plated chain in (16"/18"/20"/22" or 24") length CODD MARBLES: The Codd-neck bottle was designed and manufactured to enclose a marble and a rubber washer/gasket in the neck. The bottles are filled upside down, and pressure of the gas in the bottle forced the marble against the washer, sealing in the carbonation. The bottle was pinched into a special shape, as can be seen in the photo to the right, to provide a chamber into which the marble was pushed to open the bottle. This prevented the marble from blocking the neck as the drink was poured. Codd bottles were used until the 1920s in Scotland/UK. Sea glass marble found on the rough coasts of Scotland. This marble has not been altered in any way, there is no glue or channel drilling involved in this piece of jewellery. It is important to me that the marble is 'untouched' just the way it was found on the beach. Marbles are round, ball shaped, spheres. All pictures taken inside without flash.

The seaglass is hand collected from the beaches of North East England. Each piece of seaglass that gets washed up on the shore is unique therefore it creates a one of a kind piece of jewellery to be treasured. An ideal gift for a special occasion. Where does the seaglass come from? Seaham was noted for it's glass producing factories in the mid 1800's, but closed in 1921. The glass factory would pour waste glass into the sea at the end of each day which gets washed up onto the shores. The force of the North Sea weathers the glass and smoothed out the sharpened edges of the glass to produce the smooth frosted sea-glass that is used in our jewellery. Due to the different manufacturing process of the glass-making factory it has created uniquely multi coloured pieces of glass which creates the rarest and most unusual sea glass pieces.
