Please make arrangements to have your map delivered to a mailbox that can handle a flat 11b'"'x9b'"'x0.25b'"' rigid mailer without being bent. What is a custom star map? A star map of the sky above the location of your choosing at a specified date and time. What if I don’t have a specific time? I have chosen the default time of 10 pm if not specified. What if the event happened during the day? Even though you can’t see them there are always stars above us. What is it that I am looking at? Your star map will include all the stars and constellations if chosen, that were present at the time, date, and location that you chose. The map is orientated so that the top of the map is the north horizon, the bottom is the south, the right is west and the left is east. It is orientated this was so that if you hold it above your head you can map the stars. What stars am I seeing? Constellation maps are a mixed magnitude print. I plot all the stars in the constellations as well as b'"'looseb'"' stars with a magnitude greater than 4. The limiting magnitude for naked-eye visibility refers to the faintest stars that can be seen with the unaided eye near the zenith on clear moonless nights. Within city limits, the limiting visibility will be about 4th magnitude. Non-constellation maps are made to a magnitude of 4.4. How do you know what stars are above every location at any given time? I don't capture images on a daily basis. I raise a herd of small children so who has the time for that. Instead, I use planetarium software to plot the stars and space objects. Scientists and mathematicians who are far smarter than I cataloged the stars so that we can determine where they will be at any given time and place. From there I turn that image into a beautiful piece of artwork. What is the quality of the print? Prints are created on bright white 100lb cardstock. If opting for a crystal map, these are created with brand-named, high-quality, genuine Preciosa crystals. Prints that have foil constellations use high-quality metal foil. Proof Approval In the event that I do not receive a proof approval, I will extend the dispatch date by 1 week and also email the proof to the email attached to the order.
