The Lewis Chessmen were discovered in 1831, on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland by a local shepherd. The chessmen discovered within the chamber are probably the most famous in gaming history and are the oldest complete set of chessmen ever found. Made from walrus tusk, the Lewis Chessmen are believed to be of Icelandic origin and to date back to the twelfth century. I have been making chess sets now for many years and believe I have now perfected my craft. I have supplied sets to schools, universities, collectors and even film studios. Giant Scrunchies/Stretch Bands These are a fantastic aid to bring children together who have had very little experience of music and dance activity groups due to covid-19 rules. They are really popular in nurseries, schools, activity groups and also nursing homes where they can be used by children and adults for music, movement and circle time activities. Best of all they encourage whole group involvement! PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY ARE NOT TOYS AND THAT ALL GIANT SCRUNCHIE ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT. For those who haven’t seen them in action, they are basically colourful pieces of fabric, sewn together, with strong elastic inside, to make a giant scrunchie. The patterned fabrics are specifically chosen to fit in with familiar rhymes/songs. The children or adults sit or stand in a circle, holding onto the scrunchie whilst singing activity songs or talking about colours/what they can see on the patterned fabrics.
