In Kelly’s designs hares are given wings, owls mysteriously grow antlers, and her world of magical creatures is filled with clouds of brightly coloured butterflies. The pages are between 150 and 180 years old. Each one is hand-designed and printed onto the original page so no one else will have the same piece. Some have “foxing” age marks, others include corporation seals in the corner. Yours may even have handwritten notes made by a 19th century reader. Images are positioned onto the pages so that they can be trimmed to sit perfectly in an 8 x 10inch (20x25.5cm) frame. 2. Mounted/Matted Antiquarian Book Print: 14x11 inch ivory mount/mat – approx 35.5x28cm --------------------------------------- Made to order using genuine antiquarian book pages that are carefully mounted into an ivory coloured, high quality, precision cut bevelled edge 14x11 inch mount/mat, with a backing board. Using a genuine antiquarian book page set in a 14x11 inch mount/mat, (approx 35.5x28cm) and then fixed into your choice of frame with a glass front. We offer a choice of three on trend frames; caramel pine, or a lightly distressed black or white wood frame with a subtle gold pinstripe. Alternately we can mount and frame a 14x11inch giclee print in a beautiful 16x20 inch (40.5x51cm) black or white wooden frame. All of our frames are solid wood and come with all fixings, and so are ready to hang on the wall. 4. This is a giclee print of a larger version of the image printed onto heavy weight art paper with an over-print of text from an antique book page. This light up letter makes a lovely addition to a room. Choose your initial to be filled with beautiful artificial roses with warm white LED lights hidden amongst them. LEVELS - Take the photo at eye level with your pet. Photos looking down on your pet look unflattering and unnatural to the eye. The best angles are with your pet looking straight at you or with their head slightly tilted to one side looking past the camera. QUALITY - The very first thing I look for in a photograph is the quality. As a highly detailed pencil artist I am attracted to detail like a bee to honey, so the more detail in a photo the better your portrait will be. This is especially importrant for your pet's key features such as their eyes and nose. It is highly importrant that the photo is sharp and in focus. Sadly, I am unable to work from blurry photos. LIGHTING - Take your pet's photo in natural light, preferably outdoors. The best time is on a bright overcast day but not in direct sunlight as this can cast some unflattering images. Turn Flash 'OFF' - Please NEVER use flash. Flash causes a number of problems and looks very unflattering. It often masks out a lot of detail, causes unnatural shadows and colours, and can often result in the dreaded red-eye or eye glowing effect. As a professional artist it is importrant to use the highest quality art materials available so that my portraits can last through generations. For my coloured portraits I use a mixed selection of pants and pencils for the best colour palette and use of light-fast materials; I use Winsor & Newton paints, Faber Castell Polychromos, Primsacolor Premiers, Caran D'Ache Luminance 6901, and Derwent Studio pencils. I also sometimes use Caran D'Ache Neocolor II as an underpainting for the start of a portrait. The pencils I use are archival, with the highest degrees of lightfastness. My graphite portraits are created using FaberCastell 9000 pencils and Derwent Graphic Pencils. The paper I use is french Arches Aquarelle and Italian Fabriano artistico/classico 260gsm hot pressed paper which is acid-free and archival museum rated. Ceramic raku fired small moongazing hare with turquoise glaze with random copper lustre (some with lustre & some without as it can be very random & can depend on it being first or last out of the kiln) or white with dark crazing. Size: 13cm High Single hare listing These pictures are general pictures of each item, the crazing will differ with each animal due to the unique nature of Raku. Raku is a rapid firing technique, adapted from an ancient Japanese firing. A small group of approx 15 pieces are placed in a small gas fired kiln and fired up to around 1,000° c, each piece is then individually taken out of the kiln red hot and placed in a bin of sawdust & wood shavings which instantly combust, the actual finish is then down to careful timing, longer in the air will give bigger heavier crazing, covering quickly leaves areas with no crazing but the crazing itself is very random and this gives each piece its own character, all work is then completely covered in the sawdust and left overnight to cool before being cleaned. RAKU IS NOT FROST PROOF SO NOT SUITABLE FOR KEEPING OUTDOORS
