Royal Copenhagen began producing these Christmas Commemorative Plates in 1908. The Cobalt Blue Porcelain Christmas plate 1989 is a picture of ice skates on a frozen bond in front of a wind mill. The plate is titled In The Old Skating Pond. The plates are produced in limited quantities only in the year listed on the plate. The back of the the plate has the mark of Royal Copenhagen, the Crown over the three Wavy Lines and the initials of the painter. The plate measures 7 in. diameter and has two holes drilled through the back rim by the manufacturer in order to hang the plate. The stand is not included.
